A graduate of the Moscow Polygraphic Institute, Isabaev belonged to the generation of the sixties, who strove to create a new national visual language. After graduating from university, Isabaev became an art editor for the Zhazushy publishing house and, during his career, illustrated over a hundred books, including works by Mukhtar Auezov and Ilyas Zhansugurov.
