(Born in Nizhneudinsk, lives and works in Almaty) A key figure in the Kazakh contemporary art scene, Georgy Tryakin-Bukharov has lived in Almaty since the 1960s and is an active member of the city's alternative art community. Tryakin-Bukharov is a graduate of short courses at art institutes in Moscow and Almaty; his experimental, self-taught outsider practice reflects the ideas of Dadaism and Arte Povera, superimposed on the realities of post-Soviet life.
